As obesity continues to increase in the United States, the list of states with at least 30% of their population being considered obese has grown with actual obesity, or Body Mass Index, growing sharply with each individual.
12 states in all now make the list according to the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta;
Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and West Virginia.
A person is considered obese when their BMI exceeds 30.
